I look for pictures, and easy to read/follow recipes. If it’s too complicated, I’m out. I’ve thumbed through some cookbooks that had ingredients that I’ve never heard of. I’ll pass on those.
I love pictures, but I also like to read stories behind the recipes and so on. For me, I’m tired of basic recipes, I want something that challenges me.

I don’t remember the last time I bought a cookbook. I usually go online and look up a recipe. But, with cookbooks, I like the photos, especially serving ideas; pretty plates and such.
I’m with Cynthia, when I want to make something I search the web, however sometimes I see small colorful books on vegetarian cooking and gluten free cooking and I buy them.
LOL-one of my recipes published! no, actually I look for the use of usual ingredients in a different way. Since I love to cook, I’m just looking for an idea and then I do what I want. Especially ideas for making items that I’d love to eat, but in a healthy way-that I didn’t think of on my own. Kind of like Hungry Girl Onion Rings. Gave me the idea to use some of all that Fiber 1 cereal I eat and turn it w/ some egg whites into a coating and bake them.
Love the fiber, the onions, the crispiness and that an entire baked onion is only 150 calories!
easy to follow instructions with pics, old traditional recipes and quick meals for the family
I love the cookbooks with pictures of beautiful dishware, easy, quick meals and basic ingredients as I rarely cook.
An act of kindness is a gift given
