    • I celebrated my 21st.  We went for a very expensive meal.  I kept my eye on a waiter all evening and then to my own shock he came over with a small birthday cake with a sparkler in the top and wished me happy birthday I was so shocked I didnt know if I should laugh or cry. Poor mum when she booked it she asked if they did anything different for special occasions and they said yes the chef will make a cake. Well I am not a girly girl so she said great one thing do not make it pink icing so I had yellow. That was 15 nearly 16 years ago and cost dad £125 I think so I dread to think what it would cost now. The place was Seckford Hall in Suffolk, England.

    • I don’t remember my 16th birthday. My parents never really gave us b-day parties, but my dad always made sure we had a cake he would have a person he worked with make us a cake and he always gave us anywhere between $50.00 to $100.00 dollars on our b-day. happy

    • My BFF and I were talking about this last night on the way home.  Neither of us remember our 16th birthdays.  I do have a dorky photo of myself holding a birthday cake that I do remember baking for myself because nobody else had time to bother with it.  Beyond that I have no memory of my 16th.

    • My mama planned my 16th birthday party with great detail. My cake was baked by her. Friends and family were present for my celebration. In our household, birthdays were and still are a reason for celebration.

I received a set of glass teacups/trays as a special gift from my mama.  She was beginning to build my hope chest.  I have had occasions to use this dishware during times of entertaining. This was and still is a very special gift representative of the love she had for me.

    • I do not recall. That is so weird because birthdays near the 18th birthday were so special to me then. I just couldn’t wait to have the legal age to be able to get my own appartment, buy alcool, go out in night clubs (without fake IDs lol)... tongue out so glad my perspective in life has changed! lol
