    • The schools I attended in Japan did not have any sort of performances. Fortunately, kids here in the states have music performances, plays, and talent shows from kinder thru 12th grade.  So during her school years my daughter participated in singing with her class, a couple of plays, played the flute for 3 years, danced with a group, and sang in all the talent shows.  Sadly, I don’t have her talent.

    • THe elementary school I attended encouraged the classes to do plays.  I actually along with my best friend who put on plays ourselves for class.  I look back and I’m amazed that I did it.  I was never in any plays in high school but if I could go back I would.

    • I performed in school plays and Holiday(church) and  piano recitals(extracurricular) in grade school.  My children performed in plays, recitals, concerts and talent shows in church and school.

My younger daughter is a songstress and gave a concert at our pastor’s request when she was 7.  As a young child, she traveled to singing engagements. She also has written, directed and acted in the plays she’s written for Christmas and Resurrection Day.  I handle props and costuming for her plays.

My grandchildren also are performers in plays.

    • I’ve done all sorts of concerts & parades (I was in band).  In 1st grade, I was a miscellaneous Who in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas“, and in 6th grade, I played a dissatisfied older sister in a play called “Becky’s Horse.”  Also in 6th grade, I participated in a school talent show, based on The Gong Show (popular then); yeah, I got gonged...

    • When you live in a small town and go to a small school, you have no choice.  Christmas concert and spring concert are mandatory from kindergarten on.  Luckily by the time I hit jr. high, music wasn’t required.

Then of course there were the Christmas programs at church.  That was preschool till the year I graduated high school.  Then there were the other times of year that us kids sang at church.  We had a very close knit group of kids in our church and we did a lot of stuff including leading services when the preacher was out of town.
