Suppose you are going to a festive spring ladies luncheon, would you wear black?
TL if that is what is in your closet then yes. If you can’t/ don’t want to buy a new outfit then go with the black. I would say tho add a colorful scarf or peek a boo camisole to brighten it up.
Since ive been at Coldwater Creek I now own more than black. But it is still my comfort go to in all situations.

...sigh... Ok. You make a good point. The one lady at our table is just like you say- it’s her comfort color—even though it looks horrible on her. The other lady at our table in black was going to a funeral after the lunch, so that I could understand.
Must be my Scandanavian heritage that I still think black is only for funerals.

I admit black has always been a comfort color for me, too. Lately, though, I’ve done what Vikki suggested and I’ve added accessories with a pop of color to break it up.
I, too, love black as it is very slimming, but I try to add color when possible. Lately, I have been on a trek to find a couple of cute dresses that have color in them...found a sweet denim jumper that I can wear different color tees under and also on the look-out for a cute floral summer dress.
I attended my church’s ladies luncheon a few days ago. This is the dress and shoes I purchased for the affair.
The dress has a ruffle on one shoulder which added flair and the open-toed heels were absolutely perfect!
To accessorize, I wore grey pearl ball earrings, rhinestone bracelet and carried a grey purse. A shawl in various shades of grey with gold/silver strands running throughout was my cover-up when needed.
