Has anyone else had really bad experiences with the postal service lately? Not receiving mail, etc?
I have. And it’s such a shame really. I’m really on the fence with the idea of privatizing the whole thing. they keep raising the cost of postage and lessening the service. I’m afraid they may just become extinct.
In the last few years, I’ve had a lot of trouble. I mailed a paycheck to my bank. It never got there. I didn’t have time or gas $$ to drive it the 10 miles to the bank, so I mailed it. It had to go from here to the regional processing center where the sorting machine shredded it. Only after I started receiving a ton of overdraft notices did I find out my check hadn’t arrived at the bank. The postal service finally sent some shreds of it back to my boss.
This winter, Vikki and I had some trouble with things not getting thru the mail.
Now, I send a money order for my daughter’s car payment. It only had to travel 250 miles and it’s been 10 days and it hasn’t arrived.

It does annoy me at times..lately, I need to double check with everyone to see if they received what I sent.
IMO, I think the PO is mad that they vetoed the no delivery on Saturday..to be honest, the postal workers where I live are the slowest, meanest looking bunch I have ever seen.
Two weeks before we moved, I turned in my change of address form to our local post office. We didn’t get ANY mail for like a week or so after we moved. Later I got a note saying that my information had never been put in the system but they were going to now! I was a little peeved.
If you knew the story behind that forwarding system Diane, you’d be REALLY peeved!
Local post offices used to handle the forwarding. Now that little card you fill out gets sent to some central location in your region where a job was made up for someone to do nothing but enter that crap in the computer. A few other people were hired to forward the mail. If someone at a local post office does forward something they get chewed out because they are taking work away from some person doing the forwarding at the regional location. So your mail that arrived at your old post office now has to be bundled up and sent to the regional center and then hopefully it will get passed along to your new address. Hopefully...

Yes. Not sure what’s going on. We have a p.o.box where our mail goes too and then we get mail here at our house which we weren’t getting before cause we are paying for a box at the post office so we get some of our mail there and some here at the house. It’s really confusing and annoying too cause we are paying for the box. Lately I haven’t gotten some mail that I am suppose to get and that was like 3 months ago. So don’t know what happend to that mail. I’m kind of peeved about it.
