With the new hoopla on “Mad Cow Disease” Has anyone heard of “Mad Pig Disease“? I am working on being vegetarian, but until then...
I hadn’t heard anything new about mad cow disease.
Sadly mad cow disease could never be spread if every cowman followed all natural and organic farming practices.
It boggles my mind that they can track down one infected cow to the stall she was born in, and yet we can’t round up fugitives and illeagals?

I just checked the CDC website and there was nothing about mad pig. Mad cow is thought to be caused by a prion which is a misformed protein. It’s pathogenic and spreads from animal to animal. I agree with Tulip about farming practices (and everything else she said, too.
)
I wouldn’t worry too much about eating meat, though. All the hooplah is probably more media hype than anything.
And thorough cooking of the meat kills the causes of these diseases.
