Q & A

For a person who is trying to lose weight (me) but has a hard time eating breakfast early in the morning, can anyone suggest something to help me with getting proper nourishment for an early riser, I get up at 4 am daily for work?

    • My trainer pounded it into my head that I must eat within an hour of waking. So after much trial and error I got it. For me it is a consistency thing. So I started with a yogurt until I was in habit. Then I would eat something about an hour after that like fruit.
Now I eat oatmeal then about an hour later some fruit and almonds. Gives me plenty energy along with keeping me satisfied till my snack time.

    • I am a person who must must must have breakfast as soon as I get up, but can’t focus enough to make myself some.  So I have yogurt.  Plain, unsweetened, and then I add fruit and nuts to it.  It’s habit now.  It’s been my breakfast for the last four years.  It makes it simple because I always know what I’m going to have, I don’t have to think at 6 am.

    • 4 am? What the heck are you doing up at that hour?

I would recommend eating a banana, since I can’t fathom anything else at 4 a.m.

    • i use to have to wake at those hours to get ready for work many many years ago.  what happened to me as a result of these early hours is that the previous day by 4pm in the afternoon i would eat my last big meal.  that time was for me dinner.  by 6pm i had a snack and by 8pm i was in bed settling down to sleep.  my family worked around my sleeping pattern.  so in the morning the next day at around 4-5am i would be hungry for a meal.  i virtually fell into a pattern, and i kept this routine to better manage my work and home life....it worked for me.

    • I was never one for breakfast, mainly because I had to run and jump on public transportation and didn’t want to get sick. If I get up at 5 or 6, my stomach usually doesn’t wake up until 10. I don’t like cereal, can’t stand oatmeal, will tolerate yogurt, but too lazy to make omelets or even toast for that matter. So a cup of coffee with a FiberOne or Kashi breakfast bar works for me.

    • I am not much of a breakfast fan either. I usually skip it. I know not a good idea especially if you are diabetic like myself. But I have always been this way even as a child. So if you must a banana sounds about right or some strawberries.

    • I’m the same way. I have no time for breakfast. I wake up and get ready for work and off I go out the door! I might grab something from the vending machine at work but that’s not healthy. I really am not a morning food person. Im so use to eating at lunch time that if I do eat something in the morning, my stomach starts to hurt.
