Q & A

The state of Michigna is contemplating releasing some prisoners early because they want to save more money I feel this is a bunch of crap. They want to release non-threatening criminals ex: thieves, felons, etc... I thought no matter what crime you committed to cause you to go to prison, you‘re a threat to society, what are your thoughts?

    • I agree, it’s a bunch of crap.  They did the crime, they need to do the time.

However....if the funding isn’t there to staff and run the prison, what do you do?

    • I’m sure there are some non-violent offenders that could be released early to save some public funds, but I heard that most were violent offenders - that is ridiculous!  I feel for the victims and their families.

    • do the crime you do the time. estatic  i can understand and accept non threatening criminals early release.  what is unfortunate is that there may not be better mechanisms in prison to assist those from reoffending upon their early release.  it comes down to hard cash.  no money no can do.  sorry to say.

    • Not exactly sure what that would do except encourage more crime if they were released.  Guess most big cities can cause problems for the whole state, money talks I guess.

    • I don’t like this either but I would probably worry more about the city, county and state laying off cops. They are needed even more in Michigan with the economy the way it is.
