Q & A

I joined a women’s meetup group. The venue is a garden party at the organizer’s home. She’s requesting that we all bring a small plant to give to another who will take it home to nurture and grow it all for the name of friendship. I like that idea. What are your thoughts on this: Bring your sack lunch.

    • To me a sack lunch is for field trips, going to the park, a picnic, an outdoor thing. I’d rather bring a snack to share with all or am I making it a big deal.

    • no u are not making a big deal of it.  i think the plant idea is great, i would be hesitant though having made friends with people in the past whom i eventually did not become too friendly with, just different personalities.  it would be nicer if the plant bringing was an option.  i think food as an ice breaker is more easy to converse with then the lack of plant growing knowledge.

    • Thank you for your comment Nita. A dozen women have RSVPed and except for a couple we don’t know each other. I agree with you that food is a good starter.

This meetup is next Sun and I have until Wed to RSVP. I don’t know what to do.

    • I would be taken aback by this invitation at first reading, then I’d ponder it. I’d ask  the following question.
Do you find a kinship with these women? If so, go ahead and prepare your sack lunch and plant and have fun.  Otherwise, skip the meeting and wait until a more suitable meetup is held.

Personally, I’ve never attended an affair of this nature where I’ve had to pack a sack lunch.    It’s always been simply come and enjoy or  bring a covered dish!

    • Thank you ladies for your comments. It’s going to be like a blind date w/ several women. I suppose I have cold feet or just fearful that it won’t work out...

Thanks again for helping me thru this.
