    • What would that accomplish?  There are so many restrictions on buying a gun and so much paperwork already that it’s insane.

There is so much truth to the old bumper sticker that said, “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.”

    • Well it is our right to bear arms. However I feel there should be more training classes involved to maintain/ retain your gun permit. We force certification on everything else so why not guns too?
Especially if you have a gun go off and it’s an accident. Drivers are restricted use if they are in too many accidents.

I have no problem with anyone owning a gun I just have a problem with how no training is insisted upon to own.

    • I don’t have a problem with people owning guns but I do have a problem with the ability to purchase large clips and huge volumes of ammo. With all the technology today one would think that making purchases of this type could be tracked in a national database. The man in colorado bought an assault rifle. Last time I checked, assault rifles are not used in hunting. He bought large clips of ammo for that assault rifle.

But, again, if someone like me wanted to buy a gun to protect my household and purchase a reasonable amount of ammunition and go to a range and take a class on how to use it, I should be able to. I agree with some gun control, but not complete control. And, like Tulip said, people who are not law abiding citizens will always find a way to buy guns.

    • I agree with Vikki, there should be training classes every so many years and every person that carries a permit should be checked up on periodically, that does not mean he/she will have the permit taken away, but if there have been any offenses against the person, then by all means they should not have possession of any weapon.

Unfortunately, we are living in a cruel world which means everyone needs to protect themselves in any way possible, but it should be done with proper direction.  The criminals will always find a way and that is why the judicial system needs to be better organized.

    • Assualt rifles and huge clips are illegal in many places.  They‘re not something you can just walk into the local gun shop and buy.

If you have a criminal record, it already is illegal for you to be in possession of a firearm.  Does that stop criminals?????

    • I have little issue with handguns and hunting rifles, but the fact that people can acquire automatic weapons is insane.
