    • I wanted to be a singer.
I would stand at the top of our stairs with anything I could pretend was a mic and sing my little heart out.
My favorite song to sing was Delta Dawn. I even sang it in a talent show one time.
You have to understand though, I couldn’t sing at all.
How embarassing to think back on.

Later, I wanted to a flight attendant like BB.

    • well....when I was a really small girl I wanted to be a MOM and have a baby....I remember my parents would take us as a family out to dinner at friends houses and if there was a baby there....i was right there...doting over it...saying i was taking it home...it’s funny even as young as I was I kind of remember that...
When I got a little older....about 9 or 10 I wanted to be a flight attendant....for some reason or another I thought it was a glamorous job or maybe I thought it would take me away from IT all...
Then I discovered singing in my teens...I wanted to be a famous country singer like Patsy Cline...my idol...never did pursue that as I never had the confidence to...
I ended up a cook working at large oil camps...a far ways from my childhood dreamz but it paid well...and I enjoyed it...happy

I can’t remember a time that I didn’t dream of being a famous singer, or dancer. I remember sitting in a corner singing a song from “Cinderella,” with a scarf on my head, or dancing around the pole on the front porch singing
“Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” lol  I was in professional dance classes for many years and dreamed of being a “Solid Gold Dancer.” But I too had a great desire to be a nurse, or a vet. How I wish I would have followed through on the later two.

Really, I climbed up the ladder in Banking and then Property Management and made a good career.

Down deep inside I still think about going back and becoming a nurse. MY girlfriend tries talking me into going back to school and doing it now. I don’t think I can see myself going to school with my daughter.

Love all the answers. Della the Solid Gold dancer. I loved that show. A professional dancer that is a dream in itself.

    • I love reading all your answers estatic.

I wanted to be so many things when I was a little girl and I have done most of them.

I always loved to sing but was too shy when I was growing up but in my thirties I said to hell with that and auditioned for a band and got lead singer...that was really fun.

I also wanted to be a model but thought I was too short, too muscular and not pretty enough but in my thirties said what the hell, and went to an ad agency, they took a picture, put me on their talent board and I got a call from them to do print work. This later led to something else I wanted to when I was little...television commercials.
      I loved it.
I also wanted to be a psychologist when I was little because I was always fascinated by the reasons people did the things they do. Although I never did go to school to become a psychologist I always seem to be in positions where I am helping someone figure out life. I love that too.

I used to customise all Barbies clothes and make outfits for friends Barbies .....

I got my first shop at 16 and it felt like home - I love being on the shop floor selling to customers ....as my best friend and life long business partner says I’m like Santa in his grotto .....
My daughter is a retailer now and I often work the floor - just love it ....

    • Joyful.....go-go dancer, thats so funny....how’s that goal going for you?

It’s interesting to read all the model, dancer, and movie star answers. I think that speaks volumes about how much influence the popular role models for our young girls actually are having on them. It was the same in our day...we wanted to emulate all the beautiful, popular, successful women projected in the media.

That comment was derived from my brief psychology major goal in college!  Funny, never became a model or psychologist....at least not that one that brings in a paycheck!

So I flew and soared knowing I had the team behind me - my parents who say I could ......
I’ve told my daughter the same

Again, it is so much fun to read all of these!
