    • competitive to me means pitting myself against others, unless a boss requires me to do so then the answer for me is definitely no.  i do not get much satisfaction from beating others, i get greater satisfaction from bettering myself at my own pace.  for some i guess competitiveness may bring out their creativity, their smarts, their doggedness and in a work environment thats terrific.  in my own life i may become too unsatisfied and may fall into wanting to be like the jones and nver being satisfied or happy with who i am or where i am at or where i plan to go.  i may become deeply depressed and need to see a shrink and be medicated i guess. so i do not go to competitiveness ....i hope that makes sense.

    • Makes perfect sense Nita.

I’ve never really worked in a competitive environment other than school where I did not feel compelled to achieve great grades.  I had the ability to be a staight A student, just not the drive.

Now I find myself working in an environment where amount of work done per day matters.  And I find that there is no way on earth I am going to let a snot nosed 25 yr. old kid have better numbers than I do.  Yes, I’m finding out I’m VERY competitive.

    • Well, I know that there’s always someone better than me. Being competitive will stress me out, I just try to do the best I can. Sometimes I will go above and beyond my duties. It’s to prove to myself that I can do it and hopefully to be acknowledged for my extra work.

    • I don’t purposely compete with others unless its about a job or something beneficial in that aspect other than that I don’t compete.

    • I guess I am considered competitive on some levels. For me it’s not about outdoing or winning against others. It’s more about achieving or exceeding goals that I have set or have been set for me.

I do not take pleasure in competing with others and the whole winning/ losing aspect tho.....
