How many here has ever done a colonic cleansing, and if so what positive effects did you get from it? How many have you had?

    • I did that years ago, when I was in my 20’s and a little in my 30’s. I don’t really know why I did it other than it was something popular to do at the time. I’d be interested to know the reason you‘re considering it? I know I felt good afterward, light and like I had been washed from the inside out. The flip side to it, though, is you can become constipated afterward. Colonic irrigations wash bacteria, good and bad, out of your colon. We need friendly bacteria in our colon to continue the digestive process after most of the absorption takes place in the small intestine. Without the normal flora in our colons, the process can become sluggish, leading us back to why we had the colonic in the first place.

      Have you tried taking probiotics? In any form, they will put beneficial flora in your GI tract. Google NPR probiotic and you’ll find some of the stories that the radio station have done on the subject. Last year, my microbiology teacher used to play these radio stories for us. They‘re very good. And, she was a big support of taking probiotics. No need to eat yogurt, the probiotics are available in a very absorbable form in pills. The more strains the better, but the more strains, the higher the cost.

    • I have done it, especially at times when I have taken a lot of medications, whether they were over the counter or prescription, or when i have had a fever I needed to break or at the start of a new diet. I always do it in combination with taken increase probiotics, such as drinking a lot of unfiltered apple juice, eating jars of beets and olives, artichoke hearts or similar items
