    • My husband has a really bad cold right now. We‘re leaving on Wednesday to spend Christmas with my mother so we‘re trying to knock this cold out of him - or at least help him to feel better while he goes through it.

I made chicken soup for him this morning and he’s enjoying that. He used Vicks last night and will again tonight. I gave him a back rub with lavender oil before he went to bed last night so he would sleep better. And I also made some ginger tea today. That really quiets the cough. I steep ginger in water and then add honey and lemon just before we drink it. Ginger is a great anti-inflammatory, too.

What do you do when you‘re sick?

    • Lots of honey and lemon tea during the day and whiskey at bedtime for sore throat.

A big pot of chili with tons of peppers for a head cold.

    • Seems like you are already doing quite a bit already! Add anything that contains lots of vitamin C in diet. Lots of water and rest, rest, rest!

    • The homemade chicken soup, water, green tea with honey, ginger ale (Whole Foods has a great brand).

I also boil a big pot of water, throw in a cut up onion and cloves of garlic and stand with a towel over my face and breathe in the steam...that concoction is unbelievable, but you need to stand for 10 minutes a few times a day.  I also use hot steam packs on my sinuses to break up congestion.

Extra Vitamin C in powder form, put into a glass of water, all year round keeps the immune system strong.

This has been a bad few months already for illness..hope Joe feels better and you stay healthy too!

    • Here’s one right off the top of my head...when one of us starts to get a cold, we put vicks vapor rub on the bottom of our feet at bedtime. Cover with socks and the next morning you can really tell a big difference.
I will be trying some of these listed here also. I love home remedies
