Today after MANY years I was going into a store the exact same time my ex-fiance was going out-we quickly looked at each other then kept walking. I am still thinking should I have said hi? Always wondered how his life turned out. I was having a BAD hair/make up day/unflattering clothes to boot!
Not sure if your break-up was on a good note or bad, if it were me and we had a bad break-up, I would not have said hello, but if I was having a bad look day, but we split on a good note, then a quick hello and I am in a hurry would be o.k.

I would’ve have spoken regardless because you don’t owe him any explanation about any current successes. You did love the guy once. You’ve changed for the better in more ways than one. You’ll be fine forgive yourself and move on into 2013 with grace.
