    • My family would celebrate on Christmas Eve..my nonni would make huge platters of food which would include traditional Italian meal..fish, seafood, meats, cheeses, condiments, pasta, veggies, soup, breads..and the desserts were amazing.

My little cousin (who is now 42), would run around and hand out gifts to everyone and try to speak in Italian..very funny!

My papa would tell Christmas stories to us kids and we always watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

      I miss those days!heartbreak

    • I have just written about the Christmas in my childhood (in Denmark). I miss all the family fun of the time, but most of my family are gone now. I am thankful for all the wonderful memories...heart

    • Sleeping under my Grandmothers dining room table because we were so crowded into her home. I would give anything to go back to that time.

    • The sweet aromas of food prepared by my mama, the decorated tree with bubble lights, sitting on my daddy’s lap @ 5 as he shared Christmas memories; it’s also the year I received my walking doll which I still have, the revolving color wheel, special placement of the Christmas star, flocking on the tree, writing with snow spray on the livingroom window, leaving cookies and milk for Santa and the tons of gifts under the tree are such precious memories.

Watching the news report on tv to see how close  Santa was to our home was a biggie!

Christmas Day we gathered at my  maternal grandparents home
or they’d come to ours to celebrate the day.

    • One of my most vivid Christmas memories is the year my Grandpa was in the hospital.  I must have been about 9.  My aunt and cousins were staying with my grandparents at the time.  Mom and my aunt had to drive my grandma to the hospital because they took grandpa in the ambulance.  It was snowing and by the time they got the 50 miles to the hospital it was a big snowstorm.  I’m sure it was a hugely stressful time for the adults, but my cousins got to come stay at our house and somehow dad managed to cram all six of us kids in our little house and we had a wonderful Christmas morning.
