    • I ordered a couple of lipsticks through a company based in Los Angeles, and they are really awesome.  I spent $2.25 on one and $2.50 on the other and the color is beautiful and it glides on well, covers well and I am surprised.  Although, I will splurge once in a while (love NARS), the name brands are so pricey.

    • I haven’t had much luck with drugstore brands having any staying power. I’ve been trying some from Sephora lately. So far still trying to find my right colors.

    • Yes, I’ve tried those also. I don’t wear lipstick, only a gloss but I do wear eyeliner, foundation, blush, mascara.   Or sometimes just eyeliner if I don’t have much time.

    • That happened to me too, my skin tone is olive and they always make me look too ruddy or ashy when they apply the foundation, so now I just use a spot concealer and a bronzer on my face, along with concealer under eyes.

    • Green eyes are so pretty, eye shadow always looks nice.

My brown eyes really just look the best with plum shadows, or anything a little darker..sometimes I do a dark smoky gray.

    • I use Beauticontrol Cosmetics...hae for about 18 years now.  Anytime I try a new line I always go back to Beauticontrol.  I’m a consultant but I mainly do it to help with my taxes and to get my products at a discount.

I will say that I found an eye liner at Dollar General called L.A. Colors that I really do like and the best part of it is...it was just a $1.00.  You must try it.

    • I buy cheap drugstore cosmetics but buy expensive skin care. I find that creams from the more expensive brands are more concentrated, last longer, and the creams actually sink into the skin rather than just sitting on top.

    • I buy the drug store brands for makeup, but am looking to find more all natural skin care and makeup products.

I’ve used Beauticontrol in the past.  It’s a good product.

I just recently started wearing makeup again after a long while of not wearing it.  Bought Revlon foundation and I’m loving it.  I can wear it all day without itching or anything.  Eyeliner is always and only Covergirl.  Mascara, if I wear it has to be Neutrogena hypo allergenic—it’s about the only one I’ve found that does’t make me itch.

    • I’m a product junkie! So I try it all but have my fans.

Skin are is not an option on skimping for me. Currently I am using Neostrata and have seen great results in my skin. Radiant even!

As for foundation I usually stick with Bare Minerals. I do use a face primer before foundation (Urban Decay) and find I get lasting results when I do. I do like their Naked foundation. Very light but great coverage.

Lancôme mascara is still my favorite. I have tried so many others but my lashes look best with Lancôme Definicils.

As for the color for cheeks, lips and eyes...... I will try anything and don’t care what name is on it.

BTW I’m a hair product snob too!

    • Vikki, tell me about Neostrata, am curious.

Mary, one of the brands of lipstick I ordered was L.A. Colors and I wonder if our local drugstore carries it, but I will look for a Dollar General, will check out eyeliner.

I did try Beauticontrol many years ago, the toner was excellent.

MAC lipsticks will always be a fave of mine, have at least six shades and their oil control pressed powder is excellent.

Urban Decay changed their lipstick line. I bought a lipstick a while back that came in an interesting container with a dagger at the top and now I don’t see it in Sephora..have you seen that anymore, Vikki?

Tulip, if you are looking for natural products, check out WholeFoodsMarket.com as they carry different brands and that way you can pick and choose and be able to go into sites and compare products and prices.  The Nubian Heritage line of soaps is all natural and works so well that it as cleared up much of my skin problems and it feels clean and healthy.

    • When I was younger I didn’t really care about name brands vs local store brands.  As I’ve gotten older I’ve found that my skin care is so much more important!

I am a Presenter with Younique and I must tell you that the minerals and the 3D Lashes have changed the way I look and feel about cosmetics.
Our mineral line is all natural without fillers, they can be used wet or dry and stay on all day. We are coming out with our matte line, concealers and blushes. Currently we offer 15 different colors that blend to create the Mood you want.
I highly recommend the 3d Lashes, they are a two step process for application and can increase your natural lashes by up to 300%.  All natural green tea fibers are applied to create length and definition.

I’m currently trying beauty-control lip apeel, my husband says my lips are softer so thats a +

    • Good Morning Mary!

Neostrata has been around awhile. Exuviance is probably their more well know line and easier to get. I’m including the link to the products I use. What I like about them is that they are a simple process to use but still address my skin concerns: fine lines, smoothness and brighter skin. Along with my combination skin (can’t decide if it wants to be oily or dry).

Compared to its competitors it is a little cheaper in price. I previously have used Murad, Dermalogica and Skinceuticals. Most of these are used in spas and dermatologists offices.

I’m sure there are less expensive products out there that do the same thing but my skin is the one thing that makes the biggest difference in how I look or feel.

I am however going to look into the product that Yana blogged about. I am curious......
