Sick people shouldn’t come to work.  Yes, they should be sent home, allowed to recuperate and not be penalized for being ill.  Employers should be responsible for maintaining a healthy environment for the employees.

    • I feel anyone who is sick should be allowed to stay home w/o penalty with detailed documentation from the treating physician. But so many has abused this.

    • If a person is sick, STAY HOME!  They are not doing anyone any favors by hacking and sneezing their germs all over the place, and yes, employers should be more concerned about this.

Our son is a personal trainer and there are people that come into the gym sick as dogs and hack all over...son then has to run around and clean off everything...that is not fair, he does not get paid to be the janitor.

    • It takes me a good week to get over a cold.  I only get a week of sick leave a year.  If I use that up, it’s leave without pay and I can’t afford to do that.  Working from home is not an option where I work.  I hate coming in like that so I do my best to cover my mouth when I sneeze and cough and I only take sick leave when it’s something worse than a cold like if I have fever, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.

    • Well, the bug has made its rounds where I work.  We all come in hacking and coughing.  But there’s a lot of hacking and sneezing and so on that go on before you‘re really sick enough to stay home.

Some people have sick leave built up, most of us don’t.  And if we’d all stayed home enough days to not be hacking and sneezing all over, we’d be so far behind we’d never catch up.

    • Wow a lot of great replies. I’ve been sick with the flu... I just got a new contracted job was there two days around all those sick people and bam I got it bad. Dr has called me of last week and this week of course all documented but it frustrates me that I’ll go back after not having the flu in 15 years and most likely will get coughed all over again. I love what I do and I’m good at it but I just want to not get sick again it was bad enough the first time around and the news is saying the flu is spreading like wildfire. People walk around there like it’s no big deal being sick and they could all do what I did stay home and get dr notes. It puts me way behind schedule now being sick for two weeks and with everything I do I have to remember not to rush it getting back into the swing of it all or I’ll just run myself down trying to catch up again. ugh
