Lent is around the corner. What, if anything, are you giving up for Lent?
I haven’t given up anything for Lent in a few years. But this year, I’m planning to give up a couple things. From Ash Wednesday to the end of February, no social media. That includes Facebook, LinkedIn, and unfortunately Fab40. For the month of March, music. Both will be very challenging for me but hopefully it will go by fast.
Wow Diane! What are you going to do with your time???

Wow! That’s a challenge Diane!
My faith does not require or ask this of me but I have done it off and on in the past. I haven’t decided if I will this year! Chocolate would be what I would give up I think!
I have given up things for Lent occassionally in the past, though nowhere in my Bibe does it suggest doing so.
This year, I am not. I will say, giving up 40 days of anything is wonderful self discipline.

During the week, I usually get on FB and other social media sites at work during lunchtime. I will try to do some spiritual reading/meditation instead. And with regards to music, I really only listen to music on my commute to and from work. I will try to pray more during this time.
I have given up music for the entire season for Lent before though. It’s been a while. The social media fast will be a first though.
After being unemployed for a year and a half, there is nothing I want to give up for Lent that I haven’t already given up because I can’t afford it.
Maybe next year.
Giving up toxic relationships and those who drag me down has been the most crucial thing in my life and not complaining about what I cannot change..surrounding myself with happy, loving, peaceful individuals and putting time and energy into certain projects is what the Lord has asked of me and I am blessed.
