    • I’ve been constantly followed by the US Census Bureau to interview me about national crime. About 4 years ago I initially participated when a rep came over to ask questions about crime in our area. Then several months later I received a letter that someone will come again. Since I did not return the call the rep comes over to my house to annoy me and I answer questions again. Despite the fact that it is voluntary and  I’ve asked her to no longer call or come over because I am not interested, a new rep will do the same in several months. I’ve pleaded to stop it, but then again I receive a letter and a phone call. Each time it’s a different rep (#4). I’ve return the call to say that I am not interested in participating anymore and to PLEASE STOP BOTHERING ME! I can’t stand it!

    • In addition to the above, I received a letter from the Department of Health that within 2 weeks someone will call me for a health survey. My household was chosen at random and the survey information will be used to improve health services and programs. I don’t mind participating on my own such as online, but it’s so annoying when they won’t leave you alone.

    • Whenever someone calls with this type of thing I just quietly hang up the phone. We‘re on the do not call list but I guess it doesn’t apply to government agencies. I don’t want to engage in any conversations when them. I’m not rude to the people who call, but I just hang up the phone.

    • The problem is if I don’t return the call or I just hang up someone comes over to my place. I’m not rude to the person when she shows up, but I do express that I’m not required to participate and to not bother me anymore. The Census Bureau people have been annoying me for 4 years! It gets to you and you have to be aggressive.

    • Like Cynthia, we are on a do not call list, but calls still come through..luckily, we have caller ID, so I can screen my calls, eventually they get tired of calling.
