    • We have been living in our house now almost a year and I haven’t made any friends nearby.  Of course, I’m rarely outside anyways.  The church we go to is huge and I don’t feel like I’ve gotten to know anyone real well.  I do help out with Children’s church and I tried to join other groups but they meet during the day when I work.

It is what it is, but the pace of life here in Northern VA is definitely a lot more hectic than out in the country where we were before.  I think people in general here are just busier too.

    • I have lived in three homes here in SE Pennsylvania..the first two were in the city of Philadelphia, and we had very nice, sweet neighbors, they were like family.

We now live in a suburb and it is quite different.  People are less friendly, go about their business and honestly seem reluctant to socialize.  Hub and I are out in our yard every spring/summer/fall and rarely do other neighbors utilize their yards..it is surprising...good thing we have one couple next to us who feel the way we do or it would really be lonely.

    • I make friends in the most unlikely places wherever I go.  I haven’t moved in 12 years, and I’ve changed a lot as a person since then, so I assume I’d probably make friends easily where ever I moved.

    • I figure making friends in a new place is kind of like having a tupperware party.  You have to send out 50 invites to get 5 people there.  You have to extend the hand of friendship frequently to find just a few friends.

    • moved here on my birthday, got in a car wreck and couldn’t do anything for over a month.  went to the community gym several times and deliberately used a treadmill next to women who looked around my age-no one even smiled back at my hello!  our neighbors?  have only seen one taking our her garbage.  I waved-she turned around and went back inside!
would love to meet some friends.  so far-thank goodness my kids and grandkids are here.

    • I’m sort of stand of fish for awhile, I have to observe a person before trying to make friends, but I do speak in passing.
