    • Our graduation was at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC.  We had a very very long aisle to walk down.  Our gowns were white and we were asked to wear white shoes but I was rebellious and wore some dyed pink satin shoes.  I LOVED pink back then.

I was happy to be done with school.  I wasn’t going to college right away and actually didn’t have plans to go even though I was an Honors student.  I started a full-time job with the federal government that summer and that was interesting.

    • Ours was held in the auditorium of our all-girl Catholic school.  Our gowns and caps were jade green and the ceremony was very basic.

    • Hi Mary,

I went to an all-girl Catholic school too.  How did you like it?

    • Oh my, I have to think about this for a moment.

Our class colors were orchid and ivory, but the gowns ended up backordered and so we had royal blue.

I got to walk with Warren!!!!!!  I’d had a mad passionate crush on him for probably 3 1/2 yrs and he finally got the nerve to ask me to walk with him at graduation.

It was in the school gym.  And I just wanted it to be done and be OUT OF THERE.

I was an honor student with no particular plans, though a week or two later I did decide to attend a vocational school.

    • I like the fact that there was no boy drama to worry about and if you went to school not looking that great on any given day, no one cared..lol, but many girls were catty and in cliques, so it made it hard for shy, introverted girls (like me) to be accepted.  I did form a small group of friends who loved to disco dance and we would have lots of fun going to school dances and the local teen disco club.

After high school, I attended a business college majoring in Medical Assistant Secretarial, earned an Associate Degree and worked in the field for 12 years.
