Q & A

Expanding on Linda’s question, what kind of recycling facilities exist in your area?  Does your trash pickup also pick up recyclables seperately?

    • We have one day per week that picks up trash, paper recycle, glass & can recycle which all have their separate can.  I suppose they go to a dump of some kind.  Quite honestly, if you saw the amount of trash that lies around in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas, it surprises me that they even bother with trucks...it is a disgrace!!

    • I wish we had such a thing.  When I do sort out the recyclables, I have to haul them 35 miles to  put them in a recycling bin, and even then, there’s no place for glass.

I don’t want to drink beer out of aluminum cans, but I really hate throwing all those beer bottles in the landfill.  :(  :(

Drove past the tri-county landfill today.  It’s a disgrace that such a rural area generates so much garbage!!!!!

    • Our waste management facility requires that we recycle so the company issued 3 separate cans -  recycle, yard waste, and trash. Trash and yard waste (includes food waste)gets picks up once a week and recycle is picked up every other week. The recycle and yard waste containers are huge and there are two sizes for trash (we have the small).

    • It irks me to see at work and in public that trash is in the recycle and vice versa. At work the separate cans are next to each other - white for trash and the blue recycle can is labeled RECYCLE!

    • We have the same problem at work.  Two trash cans, one clearly labelled “CANS” and morons throw plastic bottles in there anyway.  Ugh!!!

    • In our recycle container we can put cans, plastic bottles (not the lids), and paper all together. Our recycle facility sorts thru it.  However, out in public there are separate ones too just for cans, for bottles, and for paper. But people can’t read or they‘re lazy!
