Q & A

Help! I feel I’m having a nervous breakdown. Co-workers are steering away from me and I don’t blame them. I’m so unhappy at work that I feel I need to quit. However, I need the money and insurance. What do I do? I’ve applied for other jobs, but I’m not a young lady.

    • I’m sorry you feeling so bad.
If you are that unhappy, it’s time to move on.

Or else re-examine your attitude toward your job.  Sometmes we just have to rethink things and look at them from a different angle to make a situation more bearable.

Hope things get better for you soon.

    • Have you spoke to your Dr.? Sometimes depression can make me feel the same way.

    • Thank you ladies for your comments.

Today I inquired at HR the status of the job I applied for over a week ago. The job is now filled. I felt that at least I would be considered for an interview. In my positive mind I was out the door of my current job and starting over at a new job. Of course, there’s people more qualified than me. However, it hurts to not be considered. I don’t want to think of myself as a loser, but when things don’t go your way I feel so worthless.

    • I had something similar happen to me.  I ended up taking a month off work due to severe depression and I sought professional help which helped tremendously.  I went back to work and shortly afterwards, I found a new job doing what I wanted to do.

Your health is very important.  Take care of that first and then focus on getting a new job.  If not within your company, then look outside your company.

    • Thank you everyone for your compassion and suggestions!

Since I wanted to know why I was not considered for an interview for the job I called HR. A college degree was not required for the job and I was qualified, but an applicant with a college degree was considered above me and got the job. Well, I can’t compete with higher education. Knowing that it wasn’t me helped.
