    • It has taken me a very long time to finish my education and become more independent. I look at my sister who is completely dependent on her husband for her financial needs, therefore, he makes all the decisions in the home. Even my step-daughter has put herself into that trap with a marriage that she really should exit. I’ve never really made enough money, even in my own business, to be financially secure. Nursing will give me a good income and much more autonomy.

    • Probably in my job.  Lately it has been very boring and there isn’t much to do.  I need to find a new job but I am kind of lazy when it comes to looking.

    • Thanks for your answers.  I have to add my thoughts on this, as I am a woman who is financially dependent on my husband and it works in my favor.  We have a marriage that consists of 50/50, we both make the decisions and concur with each other on every aspect of our lives.

It saddens me to know that some married, middle-aged women of today don’t have the respect from their husbands, that they must feel like a doormat.  I am a college educated woman who worked in my field for years, unfortunately things change and I no longer work.

There is so much pressure in our world today, that as we age it should get at least a little easier for us as women, but so many are now carrying the load.  I respect women that work, but to me concentrating on myself and my needs in this stage of my life means more and I am fortunate to have a husband that sees this.heart

    • I was thinking about this question today and came up with this:

My bills keep me motivated to work.

My grandsons keep me motivated to take care of myself.  I want to be the fun grandma who does stuff with them and I want to be around when they have sons

Setting a good example for my daughters keeps me motivated to be involved in the community, be a faithful wife, and just generally a good person.

My kids at work keep me motivated and inspired to set a good example and keep up with current things.

    • I do realize that finding room for improvement is a big thing that I have to concentrate on since I don’t earn an income.  So, taking on the small tasks that no one else wants to be bothered with really gives me a sense of accomplishment in my daily life.  Helping a neighbor, volunteering my time, going the extra mile are all ways I can feel productive.happy

    • I think each and every one of us has room for improvement. Sometimes that improvement seems to take a whole lot of effort.

I think my place I have room for improvement is in knowing when to keep my mouth shut.

    • I’m just trying to make it to retirement . My life is so full of stress right now , for a long time now. I’m just going through the motions, trying to get through the day. That’s why I feel life is passing me by. I rarely have time to myself and always taking care of everyone else’s problems. It’s not a fun or happy life. I’m in pain with each and every step I take and can’t get the surgery I need to help. People will say just do what you have to do but they just don’t understand that others are depending on me , and for now there is no other way.
