Q & A

Does anyone out there struggle with aging? I know its shallow and vain but I can’t seem to face aging with a positive outlook. I miss my youth, my body, my looks etc.. I don’t recognize myself in the mirror. I’m 45, married, no kids.. Maybe my hormones are going crazy.. Am I alone in this shallow, vain thoughts process? Its so insane!

    • I often look in the mirror and wonder “who is that old crone?”   But mostly I’m not around mirrors, so I try not to let it bother me.  I do miss my eyesight, wearing reading glasses drives me bonkers.

    • You are not alone. We all struggle at some point to embrace the fact that we are middle age women. I’m turning 49 next year and I can’t understand when that happened, where did the years go?
I’m okay with getting older but as I look at my grandparents in their late nineties that are not thriving but surviving I can’t help but feel sad.  This is when I remind myself  what my 98 yr old grandpa said: ” the secret to living a long life is to keep getting older ever year“.

Chek your hormones, find a new hobby and embrace the fact that:

You are finally old enough to know what you want, and still young enough to do something about it.

The bet is yet to come. Make it happen!

    • Well said Yana!!!!

I just got back from having coffee with the village elders. Only 3 of them cared to get out in the weather, but they are all over 70 and some over 90 and I look at what vital amazing people they are and realize I’m still just a kid with half my life in front of me yet.

    • Thank you all so so much.. I had my testosterone check and I’m a 5.. At our age it should be 70..  SO needless to say I’m very low. Hoping to get everything worked out in the next few months.
      Appreciate the feed back!

    • Sometimes I miss my libido and I haven’t had an orgasm for years. frown  Most of the time though it doesn’t bother me.

    • I understand what you are going through. I feel that I’m still young at heart, but the mirror doesn’t lie and it saddens me. Sometimes there is a wishful thinking that the time can be turned back.

    • I agree with you all, but as I age (I am 52), I find more peace with my life, which is what I am after for the future.

We women will always find a way to stay youthful, but if that inner peace has not reached you yet, then you have a long battle ahead of you.  Be happy you wake up in the morning, grab a cup of coffee or tea, watch the birds fly, smile at others...embrace what you have and build on it.estaticheartheart

    • I feel like time has been unfair. My youth flew by way too fast. It’s like I blinked twice and suddenly I have all these responsibilities and bills and deadlines complete with dark under eye circles and laugh lines.  worried

I remember being 15 and catching a taxi with my friend to go into town to meet up with a group of friends at the burger joint as if it were yesterday. I was so carefree, but wasn’t able to fully appreciate it at the time. I wish I could be that girl again. Every now and then I daydream about what it would be like if I could go back in time and relive those years. There are definitely some things I would do differently.
