    • Oh yes!  I work in a warehouse for goodness sakes.  I’m well aware of the fact that other women judge me,especially in a town loaded with state government employees.  They assume me to be ignorant and uneducated which is a laugh because I have a higher IQ and better education than so many of them that I meet.

The flip side of that coin is that I don’t want to associate with those state worker types because I stereotype them as shallow, bleached blond conformists with nothing interesting to say.

    • We’ll of course! I’m a hairstylist by trade but have been in management of chain salons and retail.  I’ve  had so many look down their lofty noses at me and be treated like I’m their servant. And yes while I am paid to give good service I’m not paid to be abused.
I’ve had women ask me while I actually had scissors in my hands if that was all I wanted to do with my life. Really? While I’m cutting your hair you actually ask this silly question??????
People just do that Shen they feel inferior so pffffftttttth on them!

    • Yeah, Vikki, I’ve seen that.

I had a boss who really looked down on one of our teenage waitresses because the girl “apparently has no ambition beyond going to beauty school.”   That got my dander up a bit!  This was coming from a woman who has a hair cut and color every six weeks?  Huh?

And that girl is now a very talented hair stylist.  I don’t go to her personally, but she does a beautiful job on my daughter’s hair.

    • Yes it happens all the time, I’ve had people tell me they didn’t think I should associate with someone because of their profession, I had to tell them that they don’t get to choose who I decide to associate with, and turned out the woman was a really nice person, I think there was some jealousy there.

    • Yes, but only a confident woman can choose her associates/friends based on common interests which are not always aligned to a chosen profession  or  educational background.

    • Yes, if they are shallow, boring, pathetic drones who can’t see beyond their own weaknesses and trust me those types have plenty of weaknesses.  I have met women from both sides of the coin, and have seen the worst and the best of many types of women.

      I like Butterfly’s answer!
