Q & A

I’m going nuts.  dd and sil are separated and it seems I’ve got custody of the boys.  It’s 111 out from 8 in the morning. only so many hours I can have them at the pool. no real indoor activities nearby.  Any suggestions?

    • Holy cow!!! Carine, my heart goes out to everyone involved.   Get on pinterest and start finding kids crafts?  I don’t know, I’m so not a kid person.

    • I’m horrible at A & C!  even when I ran a day care-they were easy and I hated cleaning up the mess.  Now I can’t clean the mess that would ensue.  should have seen the kitchen after they just ate breakfast for dinner.

I was horrified at them picking up their waffles (w/ syrup!) w/ their hands and eating them.  Really?????

They called me ‘general’ b/c I made them wash up and use their silverware.

They‘re 6-1/2 and 7-1/2, old enough to use the appropriate manners at a dinner table!

    • They’ll learn Grandma!  heart

I had to teach my 7 yr old grandson to dry dishes with a dishtowel the last time I had him.  Also to not drag the dishtowel thru the dog hair on the floor or put the clean plates on his head......

      It’s exhausting!

    • part of my frustration is that I ran a day care for 10 years.  0-5.  I raised my kids and over 150 others.  I don’t want to be the disciplinarian anymore.  I want to be the fun grandma-not “the general“.

They need me now more than ever-but I’m so glad to get that break next week I can’t tell you.  heartworried

    • Are there any libraries nearby?  They usually have some activities for young ones especially during the summer.  Would you be open to vacation bible schools?  If there is a cost, it’s usually not that much.

How about board games and coloring books/markers?

I am not an arts and crafts person either.

      Good Luck!
