Q & A

How come the ladies on the exercise videos have perfect hair, perfect make-up and seem to never sweat?  I have sweat dripping off my eyebrows when I work out.

    • I’ve asked myself the same question.  I also would like to know why is everyone thin.  I would love to see some “real” people doing the exercises.

    • I just know they have someone next to the camera showing them the moves!  They ladies themselves aren’t really exerting themselves if you notice.  The talking to you, distracts you from the fact that they are NOT knocking themselves out like you, but using a voice that makes it SOUND like they are.

    • It is deceptive.  The advertisers want to make it like easy, fun to do (the models must have a grin on their faces if not a smile), no sweat.  If they use real people, say a heavy set, they think they may not portray the above.  Deceptive advertising.  Like anything else...  do you see how easy it is for steam cleaning the floor, the blind or other cores. frown

    • It’s edited.  If there’s any problem, hair that flies in the face, a wardrobe “malfunction“, it’s cut out and the viewers never know the difference!

I can understand some caution in filming someone who may be drenched in sweat and red in the face, but looking a little more natural would be nice.

Isn’t the messy-sexy hair look in style anyway?

    • raysa1962, there are some nice yoga/yoga fitness DVDs that GAIAM sells that do use women of different body types.  An instructor who is a favorite of mine is Suzanne Deason.

      Here’s their link:

    • There is a great deal of pressure on professionals in the fitness industry to look great all the time and make working out look easy.

    • Peeper,

I work out to Leslie Sansone (3 mile walk) and they don’t sweat at all in her video.  They look great from start to finish.  I do really enjoy her videos.
