Q & A

I still consider myself a makeup rookie. I didn’t start wearing full makeup until I was about 37 or 38. (Guess nature finally caught up to me.) My question is do you put foundation on first or concealer? I’ve read conflicting articles & have tried it different ways. Would like to know what my fab40 sisters do.

They do say to put concealer on first then foundation will make your skin look like an even pallet BUT I totally agree with Vikki and I do my make up this way....
oil free moisturizer w/sunscreen (not even an option)
wait at leat 5 minutes for it to dry then apply foundation with anti bacterial foundation brush or clean makeup sponge making sure to blend the line on your jaw line (nothing tackier than that foundation line across your jaw)
let that sit for at least 5 minutes
then with a small concealer brush (a lip brush works great) apply concealer with a light touch to spots you still feel are noticable and blend with clean finger let that sit then use a light bronzer powder in your T zone.

    • I would do foundation 1st so you can see if you really need concealer. And then I would only use a little

    • well, if you have those DARK circles under your eyes then i would put the concealer on first, and then foundadtion...

if not, like Vikki said.. put the foundation on fist to see if you need the concealer..

when you are matching your foundadtion, out it on the inside of your arm.. by your wrist.. that will give you an idea on what it will look like on your face..

    • Actually concealer goes on first...before foundation.  You only need a little to cover dark circles, age spots, or imperfections in the skin.  The concealer needs to go along with your skin tone.  You can see it when it’s applied..therefore...when your foundation goes on top you should have a clean polished overall look.

    • Personally for me I apply my concealer 1st. I use one that is a shade lighter than my own skin I use it somewhat heavier in the darker areas blend it in good but not to the point of it disappearing then I apply my foundation, or press powder. If I need to add more I’ll do so on top of the makeup.

    • Bluerose, I apply 2 different colors of concealer before foundation. One very light under the eyes and another slighter darker around my nose, which tends to be a little red.

Just play around with some different applications and see which you prefer.

    • I put my concealer on first then blend it into the foundation. If it is under my eyes, I do not put the foundation on over it, but I blend the edges into it. but if the concealer is lighter than my foudnation,  would put the foundation over it.

    • I’m getting IPL facials in the hopes of not having to wear foundation any more. Funny, I have been a huge make up person forever! I would like to go with less, I want my hair to be easy too. I’m tired of using the flat iron....oh well, at least I have hair! Thank goodness!
