    • Water, lots of water.

      I find that it helps.

      Advil with food helps too.

    • I use a ice pack on my neck area when that happens and it helps so much (if not, try ice first then heating pad but end with ice) & I try to fall asleep because lights and sounds make it worse. Good luck.

    • I have found that sometimes when I drink too much water my head will ache. My big trigger is scents-funny, ha, since I am a candlemaker!

I am now able to control mine with Excedrin migraine (Kmart has a big store-brand bottle that works really well and is cheaper.) I used to have to take prescription Imitrex, but the severity of mine has died down over the past year. And, I usually take them with Mt. Dew or Coke-caffeine is not one of my triggers.

    • My husband, who has been a career aviator, used to get terrible, terrible headaches.

Food alergies were discovered along with the fact that the "G's" from his job had compressed his spine and more seemed to be the culprits.

Journaling his food intake to get down to the nitty gritty of what triggered his headaches, drinking lots of water, chiropractic care (the Blair-Palmer method is very gentle) and acupuncture cured him completely.  We don’t even have a bottle of Motrin in the house any more.

      Hope this helps!
      Hugs,
      Kelly

    • Nothing helps mine except Zomig inhalers.  I get botox as a preventative but they seem to help more with tension headaches, and I get it injected into my forehead to help with wrinkles!
I get migraines A LOT!  Usually I throw up anything that I take once it’s started, hence the inhaler.  It works great for me, it’s a vasal constrictor, non-narcotic.  I can’t live without it now.  See the doctor, these have been a life saver for me.  I hope they work for you as well!

    • Good luck at the doctor! I hope you start feeling better soon. I suffer with sinus & migraine headaches. The doctor told me I get both at the same time & it is not uncommon. I do not take any prescription meds because usually they cause side effects for me so I take 1000 milligrams of Ibuprofen with a caffeinated drink. Caffeine helps meds to get into your system faster. I have to make sure I take them at the FIRST sign of a headache or sometimes it is too late & then nothing helps! Keep us posted.

    • Lu- doesn’t it suck? Like you, my headaches don’t come as often as they used to years back. I think that more of them now are only sinus related. Every once in awhile I still get my complicated migraines. During those, I don’t have head pain, instead I get stroke-like symptoms. I will get a blind spot in my right eye, that side of my face goes numb, start slurring my speech & my arm will also feel numb.

    • Damn, Cheryl! I’ve never had that, I also never got the auras that Lori mentioned. But if they dragged out too long, like I didn’t take med soon enough, I would throw up. The doc treated me with Imitrex, but I never had the “classic” symptoms, like sensitivity to light, sound.

    • Lu- my aura would be smelling ammonia. They call it olfactory hallucinations. That is nasty when it happens!!! Imagine the smell of perm solution x 2!!! It’s like having the solution shot right up your nose! lol! I had an EEG and they found seizures in my brain waves which is why i have all of my problems. I have never had a traditional body seizure in my life luckily! They seizure activity last for 2 seconds or less so that is probably why. If it would last longer, I would have seizures. Oh well! Could be worse, right?

    • I had migraines for years went to pain clinics and got beta blockers injected into my head in 4 places once a month..I did it for like 3 months but the pain of the shots were not worth the little help it gave...I would throw up and couldn't function..Many trips to the ER..I had a lot of different triggers..My biggest trigger was florescent lighting.. It would always start in my right eye and radiate to the base of my skull to where my brain stem is and everything had a glow around it . I went to a neurologist and he gave me Imitrex, shots I gave myself...If you don't have medicine to take or left your at home... they told me to drink something with an insane amount of caffeine in it... I get them about one a year now.
