    • I hear you.  I start to attend more funerals than birthday parties.  I do lost a few - not too close but they were still friends.

    • I have only lost friends due to accidents, not illness. One friend I lost 2 weeks after graduating high school & another 5 years ago.

    • I lost a dear friend 9 years ago this month. She was 12 years my senior. It’s kind of strange to be nearing the age she was when she died. The experience was a crucible for me.

Holdon, I am sorry for your losses.

    • I’ve only lost one friend my own age and that was many years ago already.  It was a tough one because it was a senseless accident in which alcohol and male stupidity were involved.

I look  around me now, many of my friends are much, much older than I am.  They aren’t going to last forever. My neighbor man who is a dear dear friend is over 80.  In the last two years I’ve lost 2 friends who were in their early 60’s.

    • i have lost too many friends to count!

it started in 2nd grade when my best friend Nadia was strangled by the chain her dog was on..she was sitting by the tree the dog was chained on, and the dog started running around the tree, and well.. you can see the rest...

then when we moved to a new town, it started in 5th grade, my best friend Sue, and her 3 sisters were killed in a car/train accident when thier car stalled on the rail road tracks, and all 4 perished..

from there, its like every year we lost someone.. then in high school, i lost friends every year because they were either drunk driving, were riding with a drunk driver, or were hit by a drunk driver..

we have lost maybe 2 or 3 to illness.. my graduating class lost about 20 kids...

    • Sadly two friends straight out of school – in a car accident – the other driver was drunk.

Then as I work in retail in my twenties I lost numerous friends to AID's as it cut a swath through the gay community working in retail – all fabulous young guys – heart breaking seeing them reduced to old men ...

Now it's Cancer – it just doesn't get easier with age in fact I find it harder .
