i dont know if this would qualify under divorce or not but i dont know where else to go. yes i am divorced but that has been 9 yrs ago. see my thing is i have to pay child support and not see my girls. now they say i can have supervised visitation and i pay 4 it and i think its bull. also what do u think about someone being on ssi and thats the only income and them having to pay child support? plz let me know what u think. ssi is where the person nover worked in their life.

Legally, SSI can not be garnished for child support. It is a program based upon financial need, so I would question the child support order - but the court can order you to pay what ever it thinks is appropriate. Look for a non-profit attorney group and see if they will look at the child support order for you.

hello, I am a devorced mom of 4 . I recieve ssi as well. I do believe that child support should be paid .I have a 16 year old daughter that I recieve child support for . however I dont think they should be allowed to take child support out of yopur ssi money . maybe you should see if their is a program through ssi that will pay your kids without taking it out of your check.good luck with that.
There must be free or very low cost legal help for someone in your position. I’d really do an online search - everything is just so global these days. I’m willing to bet if you search online there’s legal aid for women somewhere.

I’m a mom who pays child support too. Doesn’t matter what your source of income is, they‘re going to take it for child support. I work three and four jobs to make a living. A third of my income goes to pay child support and is not tax deductible.
I am lucky that when I remarried, I got a man who keeps a roof over my head because on what I make after child support is paid, I would be homeless.
I think the whole child support system in this country is broken and needs to be fixed.
