How much money do you spend on feeding yourself every month? How much on groceries? How much on restaurants?
I have not calculated, my bad. I usually go to Costco and stock up. Every visit to Costco is about $150-$200 and I have a biweekly or monthly visit.
I seldom go out now to avoid salt and fat due to diet restriction. In the past, if I went out, average bill between my husband and I were $30-$40. And said we went out 3 times a month. Or if we went to a cheaper joint, it would be $15-$20.
I am eating a lot of salad & fruits - so it seems to be cheaper to eat at home.
In a month time, perhaps I can answer with a more accurate figure.
Well, I spend about $160 a week on groceries. so roughly it is about $640 a month to feed a small family. I usually dont go to restaurants only on special occasions. I do all my cooking at home. I get the Sunday paper and clip coupons on the ones I need and try to load my Kroger card with downloadable coupons. It does save some money on groceries. I really love to cook my meals and try different recipes that my family would love.
Kountrykelly: Do you like doing using the downloadable coupons with Kroger? I think I tried to do it but for some reason it didn’t work or I didn’t do something right.
It used to be enough to feed a small African nation but in the New Year and with my diet I have now done a full inventory - I buy all my cleaning stuff - toiletries monthly have it delivered and fresh food weekely and do a meal plan - now two months into this we save £300 - which when you consider there are two adults and a dog and I eat out most days with work was just stupid ...
Its the one area most households waste money ...
We don’t have coupons really so have no need for them - I’m now big on buying two for one offers though but only if it’s applicable and something I would normally buy
So Vicki...do you know how much your 300..I don’t know how to make the sign in front of the 300...LOL....but what is that equivalent to in US dollars. I don’t care to learn a new language but I want to know how to convert money..LOL.
I just blew $17 eating out this noon and brought my husband home a burger. I rarely eat out unless it’s at subway when I’m in town over lunch hour.
Groceries? Tough to say. I buy some of them and The Man buys some of them. He spends more than me, but buys less. Meaning he doesn’t spend wisely. Plus I buy a lot for church things and baking projects that actually feed a lot more than the two of us, so I guess I really don’t know.
In 08, I wrote checks totalling $918 for groceries. (I just looked it up.) Figure there were a few times I used cash, and figure The Man wrote checks for at least that much, that’s at least $170/month.
