Best Answer

I enjoy sitting down in the living room with a cup of coffee and a chat on the phone with a friend. An hour is about my limit, though. My mom and I have a weekly one hour chat and I look forward to it. My sister can talk forever on the phone about absolutely nothing. That drives me crazy. I’m usually drained after that kind of conversation.

    • When I was single mom and no internet, yes, phone was my daily rescue.

Nowadays, I don’t know why, I don’t like to talk on the phone except there are moments of urge.

Maybe I am just not quite myself lately these days.  I feel like typing or commenting here.  It seems to fulfill my social connection needs.

    • I agree with you CD. I used to love being on the phone before the internet. But now, I just say what I have to say, and get off the phone.

    • Used to talk for half hour easily to 1 or 2 people each day.
No time for this anymore. Generally spend 5 minutes maximum.
Wknds however when there is more time, I will spend 30 min to
      hour.

    • My first choice of communication is in person.
I really don’t like talking on the phone anymore for a couple reasons:
When I am employed, I’m usually the phone person.
When I am out & about, cell phone calls need to be brief and there’s the chance of bad cells, etc. I hate that!
When I am at home, I’m usually busy with a dozen things, not wanting to be bogged down on the phone.
So email, text, or IM are my choices if I can’t be face-to-face!

    • My best friend and two of my daughters live too far away to chat with in person.  I can easily spend an hour on the phone with them.

When I was a mom with toddlers running around, I’d put them down for their afternoon and spend an hour on the phone with my boyfriend.

Other than that, I hate telephones.  If it wasn’t for the fact that I’m “on call” for various jobs, I wouldn’t even own a phone.

    • I DESPISE the telephone.  I absolutely hate talking on it!  Since my hearing is not perfect in my right ear, I tend to hold the phone to my left and my ear gets so sore!  Besides, I cant relax because I like to multitask and cant do that while talking on the phone.  I can get a gazillion things done while online though estatic

    • Termagsea, Well stated!! I couldn’t agree with you more. That’s exactly the way my phone life is.  The entire gamut from cringe to can’t stop.

Strangely, I can get a lot of things done talking on the phone—it keeps me off the computer!  I have one girlfriend that I call and we do housecleaning while we talk.  It’s a great way to forget about what you are doing while you fold clothes, dust, clean toilets, etc....  Just about everything but vacuuming.  (I need to call her today!!)
