    • Check with your accountant or anyone that is doing taxes.  See if you need to pay more taxes if you re-file to joint.  You do not need to talk to your husband during the process.  Just to check it out first.

Don’t stress out.  You have made a big leap.

    • Thank you chinadoll, Right now I feel like my whole world just collapsed. All I can do is cry. I think I have been filing my taxes wrong for several years. But my husband didnt work half of the time. H&R Block told me 5 yrs ago to file head of household with my 1 dependent. They told me I would get back more money that way, so I file like that every year. The school wants 07/08 tax returns. But cant file for federal grants if your married filing head of household and him filing single. I thought I would only need my W-2 forms and bought them with me but NOOOOO they wanted the actual tax returns. Someone please give me advice??? Im crying as I am typing this. I cant stop crying. A lot of things in my life over the years prevented me from doing anything. Thats another story. I will probablly be better tomorrow. I have to go back to work. Thanks for any support here. You guys are wonderful people.

    • You can also check with your local onestop job center and see if you are eligible for WIA funds. If you are, it may not pay for all of your education but can get you started while you resolve the other issue.

    • Kelly, I am sorry.  Wish we are there in person.  We would give you a big group hug.

I am sending my angel to you - He or she is mighty strong.  You can have him/her as long as you want.

    • Kelly see if there are any grants or aid packages for women to go back to school - online. Not online schools, but help online. Google and see if you qualify for any benefits.

This is horrible! I want it all to work out for you!

    • kelly,

They must have a student aid person I know they do in the Uk who help sort this out - don’t give up just keep trying I know it’s hard.

I found it very difficult to go back to full time education at 40 but it’s so worth it ... stick with it and don’t lose the opportunity.
