Q & A

This isn’t really a question~ I was just thinking about how lovely & fascinating it would be to have someone like Valentino create a dress just for me. Can you imagine that? I wonder what he would choose? What color? What kind of material? Length, shoes, hair? Or maybe a creation from Vera Wang? (She’s been a favorite of mine for years.) In any case, can you imagine having something like that designed just for you, and you weren’t allowed to wear it until the designer him/herself approved it’s perfection? :)

    • In addition, if you could have your dream gown, what would it look like?

    • I love the idea of standing up on a round platform with a dress maker moving around me with her tape measure, pins, fabrics; making a fuss to get the everything just right.

Ok, I have a confession to make. When I was in my 20’s I entered the Mrs. California pageant. I went out to Hollywood and had my gown made for me by a woman who was a seamstress for Paramount Studios. I stood on a platform in her living room. I’ll never forget the experience and how special it all felt.

    • wow—that is really cool Chocolatier!  What a great experience.

i can’t really relate, but if someone was going to hand make a gown for me, I know it would be the most flattering thing I’ve ever worn and would take 10 pounds of of me.  ha!

    • I actually bought what I consider to be my dream gown, but I’m a weeee bit too, um, “curvy” for it right now!  It’s a long, white Celtic gown, made of velvet, and it has these beautiful mutton sleeves, and it drags on the ground just a little bit.

I have no idea why I bought it - it was just too pretty to resist! happy

    • I come from a family of women who all sew.  I guess I take custom clothes for granted.
