    • One for my office has been this:  It is my son’s birthday and I have to take cupcakes to the school for his birthday.  First of all...he cant’ celebrate his birthday all day long at school...second of all...most elementary school teachers will only allow a certain amount of time for the cupcakes because they have to get in instruction time.  That is mandatory.  So...why couldn’t she just come to work...and leave for an hour...take the cupcakes to school which is about 3 minutes away from our office...and then come back?

Ms. Kay, I’ve worked with a guy who did fall going up the stairs, drunk, broke 3 ribs.  Left me cooking alone on Easter morning getting ready for a huge lunch crowd.

      We live in Pennsylvania.
      2. My Aunt fell on the ice and I have to go help her up...I asked “where does the aunt live?” The response: “I don’t know but my husband and me have GPS.”

    • Vicki...they must of have been.  We couldn’t believe she would take the whole fricken day off to take cupcakes to the school...which as I said..was only about 3 minutes away.  Even if she took a half day off ..took the cupcakes...and then picked him up from school and did something with him for his birthday ...AFTER SCHOOL...was reasonable...but the WHOLE DAY..and he was in school????
A sorry excuse if you ask me....

    • This girl Tina that we used to know was always calling in & of course it eventually got her fired.

The worst excuse was, “I just can’t come in today. My son spray painted my car.”  (It was an April fools joke & it was easily wiped off. She was so full of it. That’s about as dumb as “My dog ate my homework.”

    • I never give a reason when I call in sick.  As a federal employee, we don’t have to.

My idiot station manager, however, keeps track of our time off.  Looking for “patterns“.

They haven’t yet noticed that I always call in sick the first Saturday of every December.

I catch the 24 hour “Army-Navy Game” flu bug every year.
