Q & A

My co worker may start teaching classes; she will teach cake decorating and I will teach chocolate making. Anyone ever taken classes like this? Can you share the experience and give suggestions?

    • Hi there, well I have veeeeeeery limited experience but it is experience nonetheless.

I remember my mom going to cake decorating classes for a length of time when I was a kid.  What I remember:  she sometimes practiced on a sponge;  she decorated seasonal cakes in correlation to the time of year (a bunny cake at Easter time, a lattice with flowers in spring).  She also brought home decorated cakes to eat - we loved that, of course!  She pre-made the cakes, brought them to class and brought them home decorated.  She also had TONS of materials that she obviously had purchased at class (tips, paper, food coloring, crumb brush) cha-CHING!

As an adult I went to cake decorating class through the Learning Annex.  We practiced roses, lines, and scallops on wax paper.  What disappointed me is that we didn’t have anything to bring home to eat.  The class was adjacent to a cake decorating store, so we of course made tons of purchases (frosting, tips, paper)prior to departure.  Of course, yet another cha-CHING!

      Hope this little bit helps!
