Q & A

Hi

I am 45. I am slowly coming to terms with my age. But the thought of going through the menopause is a constant worry. Any advice on how to cope with this change which is about to occur in my body.

Well Sophia...the most important thing to realize is ...ther is noithing you can do about it so worrying just makes things worse. I know it is easire said than done...trust me...I am starting to go through peri menopause and it is no picnic....
Hot flashes....bleeding worse than I ever did with my period . I bled through every single day with this month’s period and I never did that...ever when i was younger. The next most important thing is to take care of yourself...read about natural things you can do to help this along and make it bearable. There are so many exercises and herbs and foods that you can read about that are good for you and will help with this major change you are going through. For example...with me anyway ,and I have read of others....overindulging in sugar can make hot flashes worse. I know this to be a fact with me. If I abstain from sugar al together when I am in a hot flash phase...they GO AWAY! You know your body better than anyone...find out what works for you!
I hope this helps a little!

    • If I talk with 10 friends I find 10 different versions of menopause. It seems to be a very individual experience. My sister had no hot flashes but she had debilitating depression. My mom got irritable and awful hot flashes. I have another friend who sailed right through it uneventful. You won’t know how to handle until it starts and you see where your most uncomfortable symptoms are. Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones and go through it with no adverse side effects.

    • I think you have to think positive ahead of time on how you’ll handle all the changes that sometimes take place all at once.. Personally, I haven’t gone through the change yet, but many friends have, and it definitely seems different for each person, but I think it’s also how you make it, too.  I think I’m gonna embrace the fact I will never have to deal with that dreaded week of every month..I can’t wait!!  Then there’s the bonus of not having to worry about birth control..Think of it as having a weeks vacation a month, cause that’s what we’ll be gaining, a week free of periodville, lol..Yea!  I say embrace menopause and we’ll get out of it what we put into it...To think positively, and get positive results...and research alternative treatments for side effects when the need arises. estaticestatictongue outohhhhestatic

    • I went through menopause early.  I’m 47 and sure hope it’s over.  My only problem was the hot flashes.  I too hear that it’s different for each woman.
