Q & A

My husbands thinks that when a woman ovulates, she produces a scent which attracts her mate. This causes the man to produce a scent which is unappealing to other women.  And he thinks that it’s happening to me...what do u think of this?

I’ve been a medical writer and reproductive specialist for over 20 years, and as surprising as it seems, your husband is at least partly right. It’s true that women do give off a subtle scent called a  “pheromone” that men can smell but oddly enough most women cannot.  ANd it does act as an attractant.  Likewise, when men are turned on,  they also emit a pheromone that is attractive to women - it’s sort of the whole theory behind “animal magnetism“, because in reality animals mate when they “smell” that a potential mate is “in heat“.
IN humans all this “animal magnetism” goes on on a very unconscious level, so we usually don’t realize it. But they have done studies that show that when women are ovulating they are somehow more attractive to men.  That said, hair, make up, and stilettos have a lot of power too! :)
