    • The Chinese Fortune Tellers can spot that in a heartbeat.  There is a saying in Chinese “Black Mouth Black Face” or “He/She is black” = mean like what you said “Black Cloud“.  I personally think it is psychological.  If someone is happy and at peace, we can see that glow.  If someone is sad, full of worries, sick, we will feel the darkness surround them.

My dad used to have that.  No matter how much he smiled, that darkness would not go away.  Now he is a Christian and learn to let go and let God, the bright line shines around him; he even has a rosy cheeks now.

    • I think any bad karma, or bad luck or whatever you call it is created within ourselves.  Like Chinadoll, I think it is purely psychological.

I have a friend who is 80 or so.  He’s one of those guys who “if it wasn’t for bad luck, he’d have no luck at all.”  But I’ve watched, and he brings most of it on himself.  If he’d stop and think, or ask a smarter person for advice it would help.  And those kind of people tend to complain more, so we all hear about how bad their luck is (over and over and over...)

    • Hell, I’m starting to wonder! ME! (And no, I’m not having a pity party over here. I’m SO not into that.)
I guess it seems like a bad luck thing at times though because, I generally put everything I’ve got into almost everything that I do in almost every category.
Long story short (if it’s possible), I can’t even get my own Mom to have a conversation with me, the job situation is horrible & causing quite a crisis, relationships failed (because I chose the wrong people) and have been single now for 15 months, which most of the time is fine but WHEN is it MY turn for the crappo luck to STOP? It would just be really nice if something substantially great would happen. Seems I’ve been on a bad luck streak for far too long. Did I break a freakin mirror or something? lol
Cross the path of a black cat? Walk under a ladder? Sometimes it’s like a big “wtf.”
My Grandmother even says things to me like, “You’ve really got bad luck.”
      Wow....
I have a sense of humor about this but damn is it getting OLD.
If I explained the entire story, I’d be typing for hours. lol    Have a lucky day. Maybe, I’ll wear my “Lucky” jeans today....    lol

    • Seems that is the way it is with my son.  Things happen to him that I cannot believe.  We always say “only him”  Just a small example....St Patricks Day...a couple of years ago, he was with a bunch of friends but only him out of all of them gets a ticket for an open bottle of alcohol.  WTF??
He went to the Bahamas on Vacation with his cousin and a bunch of friends two years ago.  His luggage was the only luggage lost.  He gets in the elevator to go to the lobby and the elevator gets stuck.  His room was the only one where the air conditioning broke.  C‘mon...this is just ridiculous but the truth.  He called me on the phone complaining he wanted to come home.  All this happened the first day!!!  There are so many more stories I could tell. That poor guy.

    • Uhmm... No not really but I do think if you start believing that about yourself, you probabaly end up viewing allot of things negatively instead of seeing the humor in them...I’m just bouncing back from 2 of what I hope I’ll look back on and say were the roughest years of my life..I was pretty miserable and felt like I just couldn’t catch a break. I even trialed antidepressants...but the cure seemed worse than the disease...Anyway I’m nearly back to my old self, and mainly it’s been my change in attitude, viewing life as pretty amusing most days, and refusing (this is the toughest for me) to dwell on things I can’t fix..I’m happier, and everyone around me seems happier too.estatic

    • I absolutely don’t beleive that. There are people who have a bad start at life, and they can choose to continue that downward spiral, or make their own good luck. Dave Pelzer is a perfect example of such a person. He could very well have turned out to be an abusive person, an inmate, or just all around miserable, however he found the courage and inspiration to turn it around. He has several books out, the first one I think was “A child called “it”
There are also people born with a silver spoon in their mouth that turn out to be horrible people and live a terrible existance.
That black cloud is imaginary, and those that beleive it are the ones that are miserable. I have a friend that walks around all day saying “nothing good will ever happen to me, woe is me, I’ll never have anything, I’ll never have anyone, nobody likes me“...and guess what—-she is right. If you say things like that to yourself all the time, that’s exactly what will occur. You only draw what you actively are thinking about. You can’t draw good things to you when you think of nothing but bad.

    • First of all I like what CD had to say and it really makes sense...
I too don’t want no one to think that I am on a pity party here but all of my life I feel like I am struggling for one thing or another....I have really not been successful...I have lived a very unhealthy lifestyle in the past...at one point I had no relationship with my children and today I am struggling with other relationships...mainly my relationship with my mom...Have no sense of normalcy when it comes to family as my natural father passed away when I was 2 months old...my mother was married a number of times....I have tons of half and adopted brothers and sisters but no true ones...I have no idea what it feels like to life financially secure...I have failed at all of my relationships...especially the one with God...the list goes on...but I try...and try...and will keep on trying...till hopefully one day I can get it right...
sorry I hope I didn’t bring anyone down with this but I have really been having a rough time here again...thanks for listening.

    • I also subscribe to the beleif that a lot of you luck has to do with your choices. You can set yourself up—-with men, finances, career choices that are not good for you. Even when you are a good, fine, upstanding citizen. Just make one bad choice and it all falls down.

    • My minister always used to love the line “sh*(& happens!” Only he said “stuff happens“. Doesn’t mean it only happens to bad people, it just happens.
People as a whole are either reactive, or non reactive. You can react to what happens in a positive way, a negative way, or not at all—-usually when you relate in a negative way or not at all, more crap happens to you that isn’t good. That’s why we make lemonade from lemons, or add vodka!
