Q & A

how much “butting in” do you do with the relationship your spouse has with his mother?  I’m asking because I see too many men letting their moms get away with way too much b/c they don’t want to “tell mom she’s wrong”

    • Carine...i’m of the belief that my mother-in-law is my husband’s territory.  While i love her very much, if she gets in the way of our family, it is my husband’s responsibility to talk to his mother.  If the problem is between the two of them, i would remind my husband that sometimes you run out of opportunities to make things right and hope that he would take the initiative to work it out.

If your man isn’t willing to step up and be heard by his mother, consider the possibility that he’d rather be happy than right. mother-in-law lives about 4 minutes away and has for our entire marriage.
