Q & A

I am wearing sunglasses at my cubicle tonight.  No, the sunshine isn’t shining in by any means; however, my eyes are extra sensitive as another potential migraine is coming on.

I hate it when they come upon me whhile I am at work; at least, when I am home, I can go lay down until the migrain has passed.

For those with migraines, how you handle it when it occurs at work??

    • Txbluebonnet,

I feel so sorry for you.Migraines are nasty, and painful..If you‘re at work, try drinking a cup of black coffee and take a couple of Tylenol...I used to suffer from them terribly until I started staying from the foods that brought them on..I hope you feel better later on..

    • Imetrix, I have heard of before.   I haven’t heard of Maxalt or Replax, but I haven’t had health insurance for about 8 years prior last June.  I went to an opthalmologist last week and she said that she couldn’t prescribe anything.  I’m thinking to myself, “What kind of an eye doctor is that?”  I was so specific when scheduling my appointment.

I have been taking 6 advils (1200 mg) which isn’t really adviseable. :(  I take those asap as it starts.  If I am at home, I go to sleep. If I am at work, I get towels to with hot water and put over my eyes and forehead...and a cold coke can to place behind my head and wait about 15-30 min.  I probably look over melodramatic to my coworkers and supervisor, but they just don’t know, do they.

Last night I had to resort to the sunglasses too because the lights are just too bright at work. Ughghgh..

Eventually it did go away; just so much to do to ensure that happens so I am not just absolutely useless.  lol...

    • Oh Txbluebonnet, I feel for you.  I get migraines too.  I rarely go anywhere without some tylenol with me.  If I can take the tylenol as soon as I feel one starting, I can usually get thru work ok.  Light doesn’t bother me so much. For me it’s noise that puts me over the edge.

Stress does make a difference.  I find myself with far fewer migraines when my stress level is lower.

I also found years ago that choropractic treatment does wonders.  If I keep my neck in proper alignment, I have fewer and less severe migraines.

    • Oh, I discovered the wonders of chiropractic care with migranes.  Just one quick twist to the  side and horrible mitgrane is gone instantly.  Too bad the chiropractor that I normally go to appears to be on vacation.
