Do you get nervous if you are at an ATM and someone comes up behind you waiting to use the machine? If you are at the ATM inside a bank do you wait outside until the person is done or do you go in?

    • I walked into the bank this evening to use the ATM and the cleaning guy was vacuuming the rug so I told him I would wait until he was finished and he said “no, come on in, i’ll stand over here in the corner.” He was respectful but I was still nervous but no harm done. I have been at ATMs inside a bank where people come in while I’m conducting my business and I don’t think they should do that. I always wait outside to give people their privacy but not everyone thinks like that. One day I asked a guy to step out until I was finished...do you think that was rude of me?

    • I don’t like going to the atm unless I have someone with me.  After someone was shot at one in my area I am most certainly scared.

    • Ang,

If the ATM is outside or inside,I stay several feet back until the person is through with their business..You never know if that person is looking at your PIN..You shouldn’t have to say anything, common sense says it all

    • My husband uses an ATM machine all the time but I have to admit I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve used one. I’ve always been uncomfortable with them.

    • I hate it when a man comes up when I’m using the ATM.  I usually have my daughter in the car waiting for me and ready to honk the horn if I need help.  I try to go to ATMs in shopping malls where I am not isolated.  I don’t worry about someone stealing my PIN number because I can change thati I worry about getting robbed or assaulted.
