Q & A

After how many hours that a cat does not come home before I should start worrying?

I am telling you, Mikito is gonna be grounded again.  He was grounded for 7 days and I let him out around 6pm last night.  As of now, he still has not come home!

    • It depends on the cat.  Once my DH’s cat went missing for 2 weeks & then came back.  I’ve had a cat gone for 2 days & then came home & was fine.
When he gets back just spoil him a little - then he’ll remember where home is ;)

    • Found him!  He is just at my very next door neighbor’s yard.  My dog has been barking with a different sound and I should have detected it.

Still, he is grounded!  He could have jumped the fence!

He is now spoiled with Fancy Feast.

      Thank you all my dear.

He is about 1 year old (not sure about exact age since he is adopted.)

    • I usually tighten up for awhile then I get soft hearted.  I found him usually roaming around the first two neighbors’ houses and my neighbors are very good to him and me.  Yes, I should still be careful.  I did not sleep well and I need to remind myself.

      Bad kitty, kitty!

    • I wish my cat didn’t like going outside. It would be so much less stressful. But, if he doesn’t get out he attacks his tail and gets very agitated. But we live on over an acre, have no real neighbors, are not near the road and I keep very close tabs on him. I know exactly how long he’s out and I call him in after only a few hours. I also give him a lot of attention so he has no doubt where his home is.

I’m happy your little guy came in Chinadoll!

    • I’m so glad you got your cat back!  I would agree that leaving him inside is best.  I say this from personal experience.  Growing up all our cats were indoor/outdoor, but as a grown up I’ve had two cats get run over so my cats are indoor only now.  They don’t mind as I got them as kittens and it is all they know.

    • Just checked with my neighbor.  Her Sunshine is a female and she said she had been waiting outside more often lately.

So I have discovered a little romance here.  estatic

    • I’m glad you found your cat Chinadoll estatic

I have had cats all my life and some of them did wander off for a couple days to a week. I think they just like to experiment and see what else Is out there, not that they don’t like where they are, but cats are very Independent and they will do what they want. But I’m glad your cat Is back home.

    • Hi China..so glad Mikito is back home safely...one time our cat Whiskers (he has since passed) got out, he ran under a neighbor’s car and sat there for three hours while we screamed his name, crying and everything (my son who was 6 at the time and myself), finally my husband yells over to us, guess who is staring at me from under the car...that little squirt, that night he got a special treat and got to sleep with all the stuffed animals...never wanted to leave again!estatic
