Were you ever in scouting? Was it a positive experience?
I learned a lot from scouting. I went from grade school to high school in girl scouts.
Sandi C.
I was in Camp Fire Girls and loved it until about 9th grade and well honestly things changed... ya know..... boys!
But yes witches brew n all it was a fun and positive experience. Especially when going thru my mom’s stuff I found my vests with all the beads I earned and my camp fire book.... good memories!
I was a Brownie and a Girl Guide which is the female scouting and I loved it and did camping learnt how to build fires - burn food - made friends - made trouble and also loved doing the badges being super competitive I did all the badges and got in the national papers .....my arms looked strange with all these badges sewn on - I couldn’t bend them and when I grew and had a new top my mother had to restitch them ha ha
I’m still friends with girls I went to guides with - all very positive - my Alice & my sister’s hated it .... loved it - such happy memories.

I was a Brownie “drop out” - LOL. Plus my mom was the Den Mother! I was too much of a tom boy to partake in all the crafts. But I did love the cookies
Angel, LOL! yeah, trying to think how much my parents had to spend vs what we actually sold to the public.
OMG - yes the burnt offerings I took home to my parents or made to sell and my mother had to stay up all night to cook another batch so I had something to really sell ....
I remember my dad doing a very big smile at a cake and having a second slice - it was raw mix in the middle and like a lead weight ...parents are very encouraging when you screw up

I got busted in 3rd grade because I had drawn “dirty pics” on my Junior GS guide book. Have you ever seen the drawings done by John Lennon, naked people but they are very broad drawings and very little detail? that’s what mine looked like.
LOL! How funny Lu.......I was in the 2nd grade and there was a mtg. in my classroom and someone had etched F**K across the black board. I had no idea what the word meant and just picked up a piece of chalk and outlined the work while my mom was doing her thing. I wasn’t in long after that..........
Plus I HATED selling cookies. So my dad took orders from his job and low and behold “I” sold the most! ha ha
no, I wasn’t. I tried to get my daughter interested in Girl Scouts, but it just wasn’t her thing.
I was a Blue Bird when I was young, from what I remember ,it was a fun experience...
Angel, the kids whose parents took the cards to work “always” sold the most!! And back when we actually were safe enough to walk door-to-door, that was always so annoying! But nowadays, i think more parents do it to keep their kids from knocking on stranger’s doors.
Yes I was a Brownie and a Girl Scout and like Vikki Boys came along and I ditched girl scouts. It was a good experience for me. I was a Den Mother for my boys and a Scout Lesder for one of my neices. I had more fun as the scout mom we had a great group of girls. 3 of the girls still keep in contact with me. They are all 20 now, man they are getting old.
I was never in scouts till I was a mother. I loved it. I wish I would have been in GS before my daughter was young.
I loved scouting. I was a blue bird then a camp fire girl then I joined the sea scouts. Because the sea scouts were purchased by the boy scouts and their agreement with the girl scouts we had to take turns also being a girl scout. Scouting was a wonderful fun filled experience. As a sea scout we sailed to Hawaii, mexico sacramento river delta catalina to name a few places it was great
