My mother keeps going in and out of the Hospital with unknown abdominal pain they can’t seem to figure out what’s going on. She lives with my brother and his wife. She also has been diagnosed with Alzheimers/Dementia and has bouts of very difficult behavior. She is transitioning into never never land slowly. She is very stubborn and proud and won’t take any help from family, Home Health agencies/or a nursing home. Any advice? My brother and his wife are at their wits end with her. I can’t take care of her, my place is too small and I can’t afford a bigger place. PLease tell me how you would deal with this situation. Have you had a similar experience and what did you do?
Hi Deanna,my name is Susan and I am also in the same situation like yours. How long has your mom had Alzheinmer’s, and what kind of meds is she taking..Is she on a combination therapy such as Aricept and Namenda.....Right now , the disease is in its early stages for my mother..I have my days when my mom is sometimes like a child who refuses to go to the doctor, and taking her meds..Deanna, the whole purpose for this wonderful site is we‘re here to make friends but to be a friend as well..Here’s a number to call for the National Institute for Aging/Alzheimer’s.. 1-800-438-4380
Thanks Susan
My sister-in-law just called a little while ago saying they transferred my Mom to ICU, she can’t keep anything down, and she’s having an irregular heart beat. I’m really worried and am going to take a few days off so I can be at the hospital, just in case she passes for some reason I want to be there, and let her know I’m there for her. I don’t think she’s taking any Alzheiers meds except Haldol, which has been working OK, but she has her angry moments. I’ll keep you posted..Thanks again, glad to know I have friends.
