I haven’t been yet, but my husband just suggested I look into going there for our next vacation. I’m glad the topic was brought up here. I love fun, good food, and adventure. Can’t wait to research, check more reviews, and plan a trip to Dollywood.
My husband and I and our two sons drove there when they were younger..... drove there and back home in a day (which was sort of a long trip) ....and we really did not care for it. Now this was probably over 15 years ago. We loved the mountains...but did not care for Dollywood. The boys rode one ride...and as far as the rest....to me..at that time (it could have changed since then)...I thought it was “rednecky“..and a little “trashy“. But like I said..it might not be like that now.
We were in the Smoky Mtn’s last year. We went with a group and it was drizzling that day so no one wanted to ride but we did. We went to the park to check it out but didn’t want to spend the money to go in. We couldn’t see it because it’s so far away from the parking and you had to take a tram to get there.
Oh wait a minute....my mistake. We didn’t go into Dollywood...we just went to Pigeon Forge..which is where Dollywood is located. But there was some type of ride my boys rode on the main strip in Pigeon Forge...and we looked around for about an hour...then got back in the car and drove home. But we didn’t go into Dollywood.
Love, Love, Love, Dollywood!! But it is expensive!! Here is what we do. We drive about 9 hrs. to get to Pigeon Forge. We check into our hotel. If you go to Dollywood after 3 p.m. you get passes for the next day too. So after all that driving we go and just walk and rides some rides. The next morning we get up and go again and by then we know exactly what we want to do and take up about 1/2 a day in Dollywood again. You don’t get so tired and it seems like your spending two days there for the price of one.
