    • Hello Joanne -

I’m sure everyone who has taken HRT has a different opinion or result. I took Premarin for ten years and, yes, it did stop the miserable hot flashes and painful dryness and I chose to take the risk. Then, I found out the horrid means used to manufacture Premarin and immediately stopped taking it. I soon discovered that all I’d done was postpone the inevitable. One can’t take it for the rest of their life and when you do stop, you’ll go thru the natural process regardless of age.
If you can find a natural product vs. a chemical product, I’d say give it a try but I’ve been told that these, too, only aid the process not stop it. It’s a good example of “pay me now or pay me later.” We simply cannot control nature indefinitely. Are you aware of how Premarin is made? It was rather shocking for me to learn what I’d contributed to for ten years out of ignorance.

      Best,

    • My husband read me an article of how Premarin is made. If you love animals you will not like this at all! I’ve been on bio identical hormones but my doctor passed away and I was unable to get a re fill. The hot flashes have been horrible. Now I’m not so sure I want to go on hormone replacement. I know others here are happy with it and I was, too, while on it but now I’m not so sure. If I continue on the path I’m on with no monthly periods, I will be post menopause in just a few months so I think I may tough it out.

    • Hello Cynthia - I’m glad to hear you know the horrors behind Premarin. I’m getting private mails asking about it and I’m trying to decide whether to answer it here or in private replies. I really do think ALL women should be aware. I don’t want to spoil someone elses blog post.
If you can tough it out, I surely urge you. As said, you can only postpone with HRT. If I’d not taken Premarin, I’d probably be all through this crap now. As is, the hot flashes are as bad as ever and I’m 66 years old! It would be a lot different if a natural product worked. But it doesn’t. I guess it’s a price we must pay for being female. Sooner or later.

I love dark chocolate! It’s my only weakness in food. :))
